Being raised on the beaches of Southern California, I can appreciate the many talents of this singer-songwriter, film maker and surfer. Now all you beach bunny moms can share Johnson’s music with your little ones. Roma Music’s Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star series has just released “Lush Lullaby Renditions of Jack Johnson”. 10 beautifully crafted lullaby music for babies.

Jack Johnson is “Good People”

Jack “Hody” Johnson was born May 18, 1975 on the north shore of the Island of Oahu. He was the son of professional surfer Jeff Johnson. And as we all know, the apple does not fall far from the tree. So naturally, Jack took up surfing as well. However, unlike his father, Jack had a very brief stint as a professional surfer. At age 17 he was the youngest invitee to make the finals at the Pipeline Masters. One week later he suffered a career ending surfing accident. A head injury that needed 150 stitches. He has been quoted as saying “that’s how I became so mellow”.

With his professional surfing career over, Johnson decided to come over to the mainland where he attended the University of California, Santa Barbara (graduating with a film degree). This is where he met his future wife Kim and developed his passion for music. While out surfing one day, he befriended G. Love who eventually went on to record Johnson’s song “Rodeo Clowns” for his 1999 album Philadelphonic. This was the launching pad for Jack’s music and mining career. Now what I mean by a “mining” career is that every record Jack released struck precious metals.

* 2001 – Brushfire Fairytales (RIAA: Platinum)

* 2003 – On and On (RIAA: Platinum ARIA: 4x Platinum)

* 2005 – In Between Dreams (RIAA: 2x Platinum ARIA: 3x Platinum)

* 2008 – Sleep Through the Static (RIAA: Platinum ARIA: Platinum)

Platinum means 1,000,000 copies sold.

But what is really great about Jack Johnson is how he puts his money where his mouth is. His music and lifestlye invokes a surfer’s spirit. Which is living in harmony with Mother Earth and everything on it. Every year Johnson hosts a live concert in Hawaii for the “Kokua Hawaii Foundation”. Where he invites friends like Dave Matthews and others to perform. All the money earned goes directly back to the foundation. In fact, 100% of his 2008 tour profits and profits from the new CD/DVD release “En Concert” will be going to fund the Kokua Hawaii Foundation and the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation to support environmental, art, and music education around the world. How cool is that?

Music For Babies is “Better Together” With Jack Johnson

In reviewing “Lush Lullaby Renditions of Jack Johnson”, I realized how many Johnson songs were recognizable to my ear. In fact this record has become my favorite of all the artists in the Twinkle twinkle Little Rock Star series. What I like best about this one is that they recorded it in the “Traditional” style of lullabies. Great usage of bells, toy pianos, xylophones, baby rattles, harps and cellos. All arranged with very rich orchestra strings. These 10 songs have been beautifully re-arranged as music for babies. My favorite track is “Taylor”. Very dreamy, very soothing, and just at the right tempo for bedtime.

Lush Lullaby Renditions of Jack Johnson

10 Greatest Hits of Jack Johnson are now music for babies.

1. Upside Down 2. Sitting, Waiting, Wishing 3. Better Together 4. Banana Pancakes 5. Good People 6. Taylor 7. Bubble Toes 8. Broken 9. Flake 10. Do You Remember

You can sample these and all the other artists at Twinkle Rock.com. These lullabies are all MP3 downloads. Which is great for putting them into your mp3 player or Ipod. This way baby can nod off to “Banana Pancakes” while surfer mom enjoys her tofu and wheat grass pancakes with the other mommies.

Humko Mann Ki Shakti Dena

What is your favourite one?

When was the last time you consciously thought about the spirit or soul aspect of your beingness? Essential spirituality information requires you to seek this reconnection. Use your spiritual quest to advance your spiritual growth with a conscious and consistent association with your spirit.

As babies, we were born into this world in perfect balance in the mind, body, spirit being that we are. This is what I like to call the “love triangle.” As we grow, develop and define the world, we become less and less influenced by our spirit. Why is that? Because, just like all things in life, what becomes real in our lives is what we put our attention on.

The world we live in at this particular point in our evolution has not put a lot of time and attention on developing our spirit. We are constantly being conditioned to believe that our beingness is to be mostly concerned with our body and our mind.

Some people might say that is not true. They would say, “Look at all the religions and how we are seeking the word of God through our religious teachings.” There is much truth to this argument, but what is being promulgated and what our attention is being put on is the religion itself and not on our innate “spirit.”

The religion becomes the message and not the day-to-day influence of spirit without judgment or labels attached to it by each and every religion, according to its particular doctrine.

So our physical senses continually bring us a message that we identify ourselves as mostly a body and a mind. We put our attention on this never-ending conditioning and become less and less influenced by the spirit side of our beingness.

The love triangle adjusts accordingly and instead of the perfectly balanced mind, body, spirit being that we were when we entered this physical world we begin to view ourselves from a whole different perspective.

We are still a three-part being and we will always be a three-part being. It is just that the “spirit” part of our beingness has not received any attention and is therefore less influential in the decisions and choices we make in our lives.

The result of this neglect of our spirit is the startling revelation of how the love, that is the core of our beingness, also atrophies and is less influential when we lose our spiritual influence.

Wow! This is worth a big Ah-haaaaa. Our love quotient is way down when we lose the influence of our spirit. Somehow, that statement makes total logical sense. Not just physical sense but more importantly nonphysical sense.

The sense that comes from the more subtle aspects of our beingness. The sense that comes to us from the triune relationships in our lives. From the superconscious, conscious and subconscious. From the physical, the nonphysical, and the metaphysical. From the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. From the mind, body and spirit.

This is the nature of our beingness in the world we live in today. This is “what is so.” It is neither right nor wrong. It is merely “what is so.”

The question we need to ask ourselves is this: “Does this serve me?”

Each of you must go within yourselves and answer that question. Your answer will determine who you choose to be, and from that beingness you will do the things it takes to manifest the beingness that you choose.

Make a conscious choice in this very present moment of now to “be” more spiritual. All it requires is to consciously allow your spirit to be an active participant in your decision making process. Make that choice today and reap the benefits of that choice for the rest of your life.

“To see that Thoreau could achieve a spiritual music in words you have only to look at any page he wrote. His frustration is the habitual anguish of all writers. A congeries of essences must find a form, and the form must be coherent …

'I'm a spiritual dissident'. For the hip hop-crazy generation, his name may not ring a bell. But he's not strange to music lovers of the 1970s. This young but talented man had put Nigeria on the musical world map by the virtue of a song …

Is there something paranormal (spiritual) about dancing?

Idk if spiritual is the same as paranormal or not.Seems to me like it is. A lot of races (and tribes etc.) use dance in their spiritual communication / prayers etc. Even some Pentecostals say they are taken over by the Spirit and begin to dance. Do you feel a spiritual connection when you dance? Could it be a type of possession?

Getting a massage is the ultimate solution to a person’s stress and tension. There simply isn’t a better method to making both the body and mind feel better. As the massage penetrates stiff muscles and joints, retention is felt first hand. These areas are stiff and require continuous pressure to release the stiffness. To assist in releasing the muscles, the mind needs to relax. Relaxing the mind is important and the right environment needs to be established for your massage chair treatment to be the most effective.

Making the most of your environment is the key to helping your mind relax. The stress is coming from our minds interpretation of events. The mind will ruminate on these issues even when no immediate solution is apparent. This causes the body to be held under tension. Sustained tension will result in muscle fatigue.

There are a number of things you can do to provide for a more relaxing environment with your massage chair. These simple tips can help you better relax in order to maximize your massage chair experience.

Music is perhaps the most important environmental factor. Music is used to distract the mind. The mind begins to lose itself in the music. This helps to release the tension of stress being held over the body. Music provides a soothing and relaxing auditory experience.

Many massage chairs incorporate heating elements into different areas. Heat also provides comfort. It is also used to reduce swelling and enhance blood flow. Heat is used to warm up the areas for short periods of time.

The lighting in the room in which you receive your massage is another element. Generally, you should get your massage in low lighting conditions. If you can give the light or use candles, that is also more relaxing.

Bring a blanket on colder days. Just like any other chair, a good wraparound blanket can help keep the top of your body warm while the rest is getting a massage. Get your most comfy blanket and throw it over the top of you for a nice massage treatment.

Use headphones to listen to your music. There are massage recliners that come equipped with MP3 players and headphones. Headphones help to cut out all the ambient noise. This helps from outside disturbances breaking your relaxation.

Use a portable MP3 player or iPod to listen to music. Typically, these devices come with ear-buds which are held by the ears. Sometimes these thinner headphones are nice when you want to get a head massage. The rollers performing the massage are able to cover the area without contacting the headphones.

Use some aromatherapy to enhance the smell of the room. Use a fragrance stick or even perfume to provide a sensational aroma to the senses. A common fragrance can be very comforting and help to better relax the mind.

These are just a few of the ways that you can create a better massage chair treatment environment. Just a few of these simple things can add a new dimension of relaxation and comfort. They can be very simple so they can be done at a moments notice. This way you can quickly set your room for the optimum massage treatment.

Getting effective massage treatments is premised on having a relaxing environment. Try Massage Chairs with MP3 Players to help provide soothing music for your mind. Let it drift off as you receive your massage. Try the Montage Premier Massage Chair by Omega for a recliner that provides an environment condusive to relaxation.

Inspirational Music: What Inspires Us, How And Why?

Some say that it’s the musician and composer who are inspired, others say it’s music that inspires. No need to debate. To me, it’s like sharing the air we breathe. Isn’t that the meaning of the word “in-spire”? The composer/musician inhales the inspiration of whatever muse presents itself. Then exhales the most exquisitely inspirational music, that touches everyone who listens as they in turn are in-spired.

What music is inspirational? We think first of all of what we call “spiritual” music. This can be gospel music, hymns, Christmas carols or other music with religious affiliations. It can be traditional tunes with uplifting lyrics like “Amazing Grace”.

But truly, isn’t music medicinal, each to his own medicine? For some, it’s hip hop or rap. For others, it’s ethnic music, Irish, Greek, Punjab, or reggae. Still others are most inspired by country, bluegrass, or folk. Maybe its movie or tv soundtracks and themes, or classical, avant garde, or techno.

It doesn’t matter what kind of music inspires you, it’s what it does to you that matters. Music can open your eyes, make you think, make you think more deeply. Music can energize you, fill otherwise empty moments, and keep you company.

Maybe your life has you tied up in knots. Music can help you get through your day, unwind, solve your problems, and just take that load off your mind. It can inspire you to face yet another day…

Music can heal. The right music can fill you with awe and wonder, lift you out of your everyday life and send you soaring with the angels. It can give you hope, stimulate your imagination, and help you change your life and then change the world.

Music expresses. Music can soothe and heal by expressing commonality, humanity, compassion, and empathy. Music can take you from where you are now and gently (or emphatically!) usher you towards where you wish to be. There is comfort to be found just in knowing that someone else understands where you are and how you feel. The right music can energize you to move beyond procrastination, denial, or whatever blocks you have.

Music holds our memories. Tv commercials show us how this happens. Its easier to remember the jingle than w
1000
hatever product was being sold; I find that’s true of jingles I heard as a child. Because music holds our memories, it has been found to be useful with those afflicted with neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease. A song with words like the familiar children’s rhyme “one, two, buckle my shoe” can help them remember simple tasks.

Lastly, the healing power of inspirational music, to me, also comes from it’s ability to open our hearts. There are songs and melodies that open our hearts to feelings that we didn’t even realize we were closed to! We can listen to something that brings us to tears when we were not feeling sad. This can be through a connection to Universal sadness or to our own personal sorrow.

The same is true of joy. A song can make us realize, “that’s what I needed!” when we had no idea. We don’t realize what we bottle up inside, until it’s been set free and we feel the sense of relief, cleansing, and renewal.

Music connects us to the ineffable, the sublime, the One that we long to reconnect with. With or without words.

So explore your music world. Close your eyes and really listen. And then open yourself up and let the music inspire you.

As a professional concert pianist I have over time developed a secret psychology that helps me in any situation. You see, quite frankly I need a psychology that helps me because the music business is a tough business. If you’re not sure you agree that it is tough then consider this; how many professional concert pianists do you know? Comparatively, how many doctors, lawyers, accountants, car salesmen, teachers or nurses do you know? Are you getting the picture?

The fact that very very few pianists actually make a professional concert career out of it shows us that it may not be that easy to do. Therefore, to keep going in an industry that continually turns talented pianists from aspiring concert professionals into teachers, one must develop a personal psychology to not only cope with the demands of the profession but, to keep going when all the odds say that it’s not possible.

My personal psychology includes focusing on four main areas which when developed can propel me forward regardless of the competition or the demands of the job itself. These are the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical parts of my life. However, it is the first three that I focus on the most. In fact, the mental, emotional and spiritual parts of myself that I do have control over are reflected in my physical world. My physical world is just a printout of how I am feeling mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

So, when I feel like it’s impossible to do something or achieve something in my career I turn to the three things that I can control. For example; let’s say that I have a new concert opportunity coming up that’s different than anything I’ve ever done before. As a matter of fact this is true. In a few months I’ll be performing an entire evening’s concert of my own music with a professional orchestra. That’s right, I have to compose, arrange and practice nine movements of “The Road to Santiago” suite, a selection of songs that I wrote while walking a pilgrimage in 2004.

To many people this would seem like a huge undertaking. Well, it is. But, I don’t really think of it that way. If I did, I’d never get it done. I cannot for one moment allow myself to get drawn into any negative state of mind. Therefore to cope, I turn to my mental state, emotional state and spiritual state to get me through it.

How does this work? First of all let’s focus on the mental state. My mental state means my logical mind. This is the part of my brain that draws upon its past experience to carry out the academic challenges of the job. In terms of my concert that would mean the preparation, practicing, business challenges and anything else that my brain has to figure out. To survive mentally with so many things going is only possible if I focus on one thing at a time. To achieve this I give one single a task 100% of my energy until it’s completed. Or, if I’m practicing, I give one piece 100% of my energy until I’ve learned it, then I do it again in 24 hours then again in 7 days. My retention rate for learning goes up 85% if I follow this formula.

Emotionally, it’s far easier for me to remember that the outcome is part of my journey. Will I get everything right? Probably not. I will learn many things on this project, some of which I do not care to learn. But, everything I learn will get tucked away in my toolbox to use for next time. My emotions will be easier to handle if I just remain calm about everything and not let others distract me from my true purpose, which is to do the best that I can do.

The spiritual parts of myself are most important in any situation. My belief system includes many teachings which I have adopted as my own truth. Examples of this are; I believe that everything happens for a reason. Therefore, no matter what happens up until the concert and no matter what happens during the concert, everything is perfect.

So far in this project many things have happened that I don’t like. But, the spiritual parts of me know that it all comes out in the wash. I can push the envelope of a higher calling without having to worry about the outcome. The fact is if I shoot for the stars I’m at least going to hit the moon. And, no matter what anyone says about me before, during or after this concert it doesn’t matter. What really matters is that I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing and I’m going to learn something. Spiritually I believe that learning is the key to life itself. Otherwise, what would be the point?

If you are struggling in your own situation to find some answers consider adopting similar psychology. The, dive in and learn something. You’ll be far better off than if you don’t take the chance in the first place. I’ve never written or performed nine symphonies before. But, to me, the only risk is not taking one.

Accessing Your Spiritual Guidance

For the last 35 years, I have been working with individuals, couples and families, as well as business relationships. I have 8 published books on relationships and healing, some of them best-sellers. In the first half of my career, I worked as a traditional psychotherapist, and was not happy with the results. In the last 18 years I have worked with a process called Inner Bonding, which is a powerful six step psychological and spiritual healing process. I discovered that there is no real healing without a personal connection with a source of spiritual guidance.

Everyone in recovery – whether from alcohol, drugs, food, spending, gambling, sex, TV, codependency, or any other addiction – knows that they cannot heal without a connection with their Higher Power, yet for many, this connection is illusive. It is a common experience for me to work with people who have been in Twelve Steps for years yet still don’t have a direct, personal experience of their Higher Power. All of us want a direct line to our spiritual Guidance. We need this help in maintaining abstinence and taking responsibility for ourselves. We want to know what is in our highest good, what is the right decision in different situations, how to set appropriate boundaries, and how to manifest what we want.

It is the birthright of each of us to have a direct line to God, whatever God is for you. Yet few of us have learned how to do this at will on a daily basis. Surprisingly however, it is not hard to do.

The spiritual realm exists at a higher frequency than we do here on the physical plane of Planet Earth. In order to access the spiritual realm, we need to know how to raise our “frequency”.

One way to understand “frequency” is to imagine a room filled with people who are sharing love and joy with each other. This room has a feeling of lightness–a high frequency–whereas a room filled with angry, tense people has a feeling of heaviness–a low frequency.

So, how do we raise our frequency? There are numerous things you can do to help yourself raise your frequency, but none of them will work unless you have the intent to learn with Spirit about loving yourself and others.

Our intent is the most powerful tool we have for raising our frequency. There are only two possible intents in any given moment: to learn with God/Spirit about lov
1000
ing yourself and others, or to protect against your pain and avoid responsibility for your feelings. When our intent is to protect and avoid we seek to control – through our various addictions – our feelings, others’ feelings and behavior, and the outcome of things. When our intent is to learn, we seek to take responsibility for our own feelings and behavior by discovering what we may be thinking or doing that is unloving to ourselves and others, and what would be loving.

You can try many methods of raising your frequency, from prayer to meditation to chanting, but if your intent is to protect instead of learn, none of these will do any good at all. The reason is that when the intent is to protect against pain, we close our heart so as not to feel whatever we are feeling. God cannot come through a closed heart.

We are each given free will when we come to this planet. This means that we get to choose our intent – to be open or closed, loving or unloving, protected against pain or taking responsibility for our feelings. While the love that is God is all-powerful, it cannot come into a closed heart. Just as the air you breathe cannot come into your lungs until you take a breathe, the love, power and wisdom that is God cannot enter your being until you choose the intent to learn about loving.

When you have a true, pure intent to learn, your frequency automatically raises. None of the actions I suggest below will raise your frequency without this intent. However, once you have this intent, the following actions can help to further raise your frequency.

• Move into your imagination. Your imagination is a gift from God. When you move into your imagination, you raise your frequency and tap into the source of your creativity and inspiration. Our willingness to move into and trust our imagination is essential to being able to connect with our personal spiritual Guidance When you first begin to utilize your imagination to increase your frequency and connect with God, you might feel as if you are just using your imagination to make things up. However, as you take the risk of trusting what you think you are “making up,” you will discover that it really is coming through you from God rather than from you.

• Keep your body clear. Your body is an energy system. If your body’s energy is clogged with drugs, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, sugar, heavy foods, lots of food or foods contaminated with pesticides, preservatives, artificial sweeteners or any of the thousands of chemicals that are added to foods, your frequency is lowered.

• Pray. Sincere prayers of gratitude and asking God for help in healing all blocks to loving can raise your frequency.

• Chant. Repetitive prayers, chants and mantras can open you to higher frequencies, as can singing in general.

• Dance. Rapid repetitive movement, such as Native American drumming dances, may open you to higher frequencies.

• Spend time in nature. The frequency of a city is far lower than the frequency of nature. Being among trees and flowers, near a river, creek or lake, at the ocean, in the desert, or on a mountain can all raise your frequency.

• Listen to classical or spiritual music.

• Do creative, artistic activities. Moving into your creative imagination raises the frequency.

• Use incense or do “smudging.” Incense has been used for centuries to raise the frequency and invite spiritual connection. “Smudging” is using the smoke from various dried plants such as sage, pine, cedar and lavender to clear the energies in a room and raise the frequency. Smudging has been used for thousands of years by indigenous peoples throughout the world.

• Lighting candles. Candlelight, too, has been used for thousands of years to clear the air and raise the frequency.

If you get into the habit of asking yourself throughout the day, “What is my intent? Am I trying to control something, or is my deepest desire in the moment to learn
1000
about loving myself and others?”, you will begin to understand intent. This will eventually lead you into hearing, feeling, and seeing your personal spiritual Guidance.

How Music Elevates Spirituality

However, mystics in their sacred music, regardless of the worlds praise, free both their composition and improvisations from the limitations of technicality. Music, in much the same way, has been handed down by musicians from generation to generation.

Spiritual music can inspire non-spiritual listeners in the same way that God inspires unaspiring humanity. God Himself is the Supreme Musician and each human being is a note in His cosmic Game. God is playing His cosmic role in mankind through music.

Song styles can include contemporary folk, boogie-woogie, lullaby, blues, swing, jazz, new age, and others. However, style does not matter because mind is an aggregate of all life experiences be it pain, pleasure, hurt, anger, joy or anxiety. Whatever, the feeling, spiritual music reaches out to soothe all emotions.

American Negro spirituals are religious folk songs of American origin, particularly associated with African-American Protestants of the southern United States. African tradition also included polyphonic and choral singing. Soulful music is a form of aspiration, a form of meditation.

Spirituals are primarily expressions of religious faith, originated by African slaves in the United States. They uplift in times of crisis, heal, comfort, inspire and instill hopes and dreams, thereby transforming individuals, communities, and whole societies.

Spirituals Medleys are songs that could be heard out in the cotton fields of the Old South and were created over a 200-year period, but not until after the Civil War were most Americans aware of their existence.

Spirituals can be divided into three categories: “Deep River,” “Balm in Gilead,” and “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” and are suffused with feelings of self pity and a longing for change.

Negro spirituals were considered mainly as traditional songs and were the first uniquely American music to come out of this country. Negro spirituals are American’s first great musical contribution to the world. All of these variations are how music elevates spirituality.

The spiritual law of tithing is one we all know, no matter what faith, religion or philosophy we come from. The idea of giving first to the higher power is one that is all faiths share.

Tithing is one of the principles in wealth generation. Giving 10% of your earnings is considered the standard amount, although some give much more, and some may be in a position to start out with a little less, the intention is 10%.

What does is say when we tithe? It says we are grateful and that we know there is much more where this came from and thus we give to source. Source being the higher power, some people call it God, in fact that is common within the western world, however this is not an article about religion, or what faith believes what, it is about a spiritual principle or key to wealth and I would prefer to speak on the principle of giving versus anything else.

Many folks would love to give, but they don’t because they do not believe they can. It is exactly that belief that keeps them stuck where they are however and that is a tough lesson for many to learn; in fact many never learn it.

Others don’t keep a faith of any kind so they don’t really know who the source would be that they would tithe to. In those cases I would suggest that the place you would tithe to would be the place that gives you the greatest sense of nurturing and growth.

Is a charitable donation considered tithing? Not necessarily, however if the donation is made in thanks for the growth you have received by being a part of it, than I believe the spiritual principles are indeed being covered. Typically however tithing is the idea of giving back to source which is abundant. So, giving to charities, a much encouraged practice will increase you abundance many times over and still you will also tithe to your place of faith.

Does this sound like a lot of giving to you? It is. However if you were living in a state of abundance how much giving would be a lot? If there were more than enough in your life always, when would you stop giving? I hope the answer is never.

So, is it an issue of giving away too much, or… Not having enough? Chances are pretty good if you are wondering how you could possibly give away or tithe, than you are living in a state of lack. Without this being a good or bad thing, it’s important to simply observe. Where are you right now? If you are attached to lack, you will receive more of it. Likewise if you are attached to abundance, you will receive more of that. It is the way it works and you have proven it to yourself time and time again over the years – if you take a moment to think about this – your life has shown up in exactly the ways you have been focused on.

That said. If you are coming through a situation and just beginning to open up to prosperous thinking and action, than create a gift that is a reflection of prosperity and may not be 10% at this moment. It is better to give 1% than nothing at all. Know in your heart that as you are more established you will increase your gifts and ultimately you may even tithe 15 or 20% in gratitude for the changes in your life. How much do you think Bill Gates tithes and gives?

You can give service, time is valuable, however just like money if you constantly think you don’t have enough, you will never have enough. Giving of our valuable time can be considered tithing and for this moment that may be the appropriate place to start.

You get what you focus on. You will receive more and more when you believe that is possible. You will always have more than you need when you stop being needy. There is a principle that says, whatever you want more of, give it away, the means if you want more money, give, if your want more time, give, if you want more love, give, etc…

Practice gratitude and tithe. Find your balance and start to do this. Believe me when I tell you that if you do not, the higher power finds ways for you to tithe and that could end up being a busted water heater, $20 falling out of your pocket, a car repair or… You get the point.

The idea that it is better to give than receive is NOT what I’m speaking of. The act of self sacrifice is neither enlightened nor abundant. Even Mother Theresa received in return for her service, she may not have had a large bank account, however she was given huge mansions that she converted into homes for the sick, aged and forgotten, and she always had food, medicine and whatever else she needed to get her work done. That is true abundance. She received.

A compliment is not actually given until it is received, to give is a spiritual principle and to receive in gratitude is also a spiritual principle. Say thank you and ALLOW.

May you be blessed in life in every way and on every level and may you share this blessing with gratitude and celebration.

How To Be A Spiritual Atheist
by: Steve Gillman

A spiritual atheist? Perhaps it’s a strange concept if you only think spirituality has to mean a belief in a god. Do the two have to be related? Many people think of the historical Buddha as a spiritual person, but most don’t know that he never expressed a belief in a god. He even discouraged his followers from such “speculation,” preferring that they work on their salvation in this world.

Computer Spirituality

Imagine a computer that has begun to get so complex and powerful that it starts to ask questions “outside the box.” It starts to become conscious. The first thing it would realize is that for all its computing capacity, it is still very limited. The humans who use it, most of whom can’t begin to understand it’s complicated algorithms, still are more powerful. They see the world more clearly.

The computer could recite a million facts, perhaps, and yet not know what to use them for. It could describe human psychology, and yet not understand a smile. It wouldn’t even know why it existed, or what it was being used for. If it came to understand these limitations, and to actually wonder about the world outside its circuits, and to desire to see more, and to grow – that would be computer spirituality.

Atheist Spirituality

An atheist simply doesn’t believe in a god. There isn’t sufficient evidence, so there is no belief. Contrary to what many think, there is no need for an atheist to disprove that a god exists, anymore than a Christian needs to disprove that the world is ruled by intelligent termites. The burden of proof is always with the person making a positive assertion.

An atheist can recognize the mystery of life, and marvel at how everything learned deepens that mystery, pushing “final” causes further into the distance. An atheist can recognize his or her own limitations, and seek to grow, perhaps even by developing contact with “higher powers.” This is an atheist spirituality. How is it different from “regular” spirituality?

The difference is that an atheist feels no need to pretend to understand the mysteries – no need to create gods and religions to explain them. Contacting “higher powers” can simply be tuning into subconscious resources through meditation or other means. Are these “higher powers” nothing more than electrical patterns in our brains? We don’t know, and we don’t have to know to tap into them.

Is it that atheists don’t want to know? It is the opposite. “Understanding” by forcing religious explanations on things short circuits any search for the truth. How can you understand and integrate new evidence when you are no longer questioning? Better to simply use spiritual tools like “intuition” and let them be understood – or not – with time and real evidence.

Look to the past, and we see how narrow-minded people were, and how little they understood compared to us. We will appear that way to people in the future, as they will to people further into the future. We are growing in our knowledge and power, but like that spiritual computer, our circuits are in a box that we need to grow out of. Seeking the way beyond that box is what makes one a spiritual atheist.
